Pregnant women who present in labor are seen in the triage unit and evaluated by physicians, nurses, and midwives with specialized training in the evaluation of pregnant women at all stages of pregnancy. The units are equipped with ultrasounds and monitors to assess fetal and maternal well-being and are directly adjacent to the labor and delivery units should patients require admission to the hospital. Consultation with maternal-fetal medicine (high risk pregnancy) specialists is readily available in this unit.
