Oculofacial and orbital surgery is all plastic and reconstructive surgery that involves the area of the face around the eye and the orbit. This specialized area of ophthalmology focuses on disease and problems involving the eyelids, the lacrimal (tear) system, the socket and the orbit (the region surrounding the eyeball).

Ophthalmologists in our Oculofacial and Orbital Service have additional training in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and orbit (eye socket). They diagnose and treat tumors of the eyelids, orbit and surrounding structures. Their skills are used to improve the appearance and the function of the eye. We offer a variety of both functional (reconstructive) and cosmetic (aesthetic) services.

When necessary, our service collaborates with colleagues from other departments, including otolaryngology, neurosurgery, dermatology, plastic surgery, and radiology, in order to provide optimal patient care. Through these inter-disciplinary efforts, the issues that our patients face are addressed in a directed and compassionate fashion.
