HUP Magnet Coordinator Amanda C. Ward shows off the winning DAISY Foundation shirt she designed
Congratulations to HUP Magnet Coordinator Amanda C. Ward, BSN, whose design honoring nurses’ compassionate care was selected for the international DAISY Foundation’s new merchandise collection.
The DAISY Awards, given monthly at HUP, recognize nurses or nurse teams whom patients, family members, or staff have recognized for providing extraordinary care. Ward’s “Healer’s Touch” design features words of praise for nurses from 2021-2022 patient feedback surveys – including “exceptional,” “attentive,” professional,” and “funny” – in the shape of the statue that all DAISY winners receive.
“I am so proud to be a HUP nurse, and I have seen first-hand the joy the DAISY nominations bring to my colleagues,” said Ward, who herself won the award in 2015. “I cannot put into words the feeling that being surprised with the DAISY Award gave to me during that time, and I would largely credit it for me still being a nurse.”
Future HUP DAISY winners will receive one of the shirts designed by Ward, but any fans of nurses can order one. Each purchase benefits the DAISY Foundation to help continue its mission of expressing gratitude to nurses, nurse-led teams, and nurse leaders around the world.
