Every month, PPMC staff members who embody Service, Teamwork, Achievement, and Respect, are named Presby STARs. In addition to earning recognition from their colleagues, these outstanding all-stars also receive a certificate from CEO Michele Volpe and a $100 award.
Pharmacy technician Matt Blackburn is one recently recognized STAR staff member who consistently goes above and beyond for patients and their families. When he discovered that a patient’s much-needed seizure medication wasn’t available at PPMC and this could delay their discharge, Blackburn hopped on his bike, headed over to HUP, and picked it up himself. With some quick thinking and quicker pedaling, Blackburn’s efforts ensured the patient could return home with their loved ones a day sooner.
Kiersten Collier, RN, was also recognized by a fellow Cupp 5 South nurse for her dedication to making her patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible, even under stressful circumstances. When a young patient missed his high school graduation celebration, Collier’s friendly, compassionate attitude and insistence on showing the recent grad and his family some special attention helped make the best out of a difficult situation.
Congratulations to newest STARs lineup — we are so grateful for the dedication and compassion that you show the PPMC community!
