Every month, PPMC staff members who embody Service, Teamwork, Achievement, and Respect, are named Presby STARs. In addition to earning recognition from their colleagues, these outstanding all-stars also receive a certificate from CEO Michele Volpe and a $100 award.
Shawn Deutsch, RN, of Cupp 3 South, was recently named a STAR for her above-and-beyond attitude and willingness to go the extra mile — literally. After the wrong emergency medical supplies were delivered to a patient’s house, Deutsch went out of her way to pick up the correct trach supplies, and she personally dropped them off before making her own commute home. Even off the clock, Deutsch was committed to fulfilling a patient’s needs and supporting them on their journey to health.
Darlene Silot, RN, and Laura Centanni, RN, were also recognized for their quick thinking and their dedication to the patients of Cupp 5 East after a “great catch” scenario. After identifying a potentially life-threatening medication error, Silot and Centanni immediately sprung to action and notified the pharmacy team before it could affect their patient. These champions of patient safety were able to prevent a potential opioid overdose and illustrated the importance of communication and collaboration.
