According to the American Heart Association, someone in the United States dies from heart disease — the number one killer worldwide — stroke, or another cardiovascular condition every 43 seconds. Millions more are at risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke, but the AHA is committed to helping people across the nation go smoke-free, adopt active lifestyles and healthy diets, and proactively manage their blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol.
To support the AHA’s 2020 Impact Goal to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent by 2020 and Penn Medicine’s commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovative heart and vascular care, you’re invited to take part in the 2019 Philadelphia Heart Walk.
Join us on Saturday, November 2, at Citizens Bank Park for this annual family-, stroller-, and dog-friendly event, featuring 3-mile and 1-mile walks and a “Healthy for Good” festival to celebrate the steps towards healthy living. This year, Penn Medicine aims to raise $190,000 and to encourage more employees, patients, friends, and families to participate than ever before. Whether you walk, donate, or volunteer, your participation will help the AHA develop lifesaving research and community programming. To learn more, visit PennMedicine.org/HeartWalk.
Plus, Philadelphia Runner is supporting this year’s walk by offering Penn Medicine employees a 10 percent in-store discount through event date. Just present your Penn Medicine ID at checkout!
