Each May, members of the Lancaster County community participate in GoBeyond, a week-long service initiative that unites people to serve in various community service projects, including meal preparation, diaper drives, blood donation and more. During the third annual GoBeyond, Lancaster General Health employees and their families participated in a city-wide clean-up project.
George Cattell, Jr., exercise physiologist with LG Health’s wellness team, and Robert “Teke” Drummond, who drives operational efforts in LG Health’s chief executive office, organized LG Health’s volunteer group. Both felt that it was a great opportunity to live the mission of the organization, while spending time outside of work in a family-friendly environment.
“As trusted stewards of our community’s health and well-being, we have the ability to be a positive influencer both at work and in our personal lives,” said Drummond.
The LG Health volunteers worked together to clean a four-block section from Church Street to Penn Square. This project was organized by Water Street Mission’s Teen Haven, a not-for-profit project that fosters teen leadership.
“Participating in GoBeyond is a great opportunity that shows how much we care about our community, when we are at work and at home with our families,” said Cattell.
