The Penn Medicine CAREs grant program helps physicians, staff and students give back to their communities throughout the region. The range of projects supported is extensive, including:

  • Horseback riding therapy for those living with disabilities
  • Home repairs for low-income homeowners to make houses safe to live in
  • Free transportation for seniors to health care sites and food shopping
  • Furnishings and health-related giveaways for a clinic in Haiti

At a special reception recognizing those who give back in so many ways, CEO Ralph Muller thanked them for the “commitment you show – to Penn Medicine and to the communities you serve. It’s part of what makes Penn Medicine great. Your gesture to the community is of great importance – it goes a long way.”

Since 2011, Penn Medicine CAREs has awarded over $435,000 in grants, supporting close to 400 projects. This year alone, there were more than 100 recipients this year. “And we’ll keep expanding,” Muller said.
