As health care providers, we are selflessly dedicated to serving the community no matter the circumstances. COVID-19 has injected a lot of unknown into our daily lives, but there is no one more prepared to fight this virus than our team here at Penn Medicine.
In the face of adversity, your ingenuity continues to prevail. Clinical teams stood up drive-through testing sites in hours. Our telemedicine teams have screened and cared for tens of thousands of patients far. Through a partnership with the American Red Cross, hundreds of pints of blood were collected right in the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine Atrium. The Human Resources team worked tirelessly to create the Penn Medicine Employee Assistance Fund to support the members of our staff who are experiencing financial distress as a result of this situation. These are but a few examples of your extraordinary work. I am so proud of you all and am honored to be your CEO.
We are facing unprecedented times. But our organization has been on the front lines of crisis many times before. Our community, city, and country are calling on us. Like always, we are stepping up and ready to conquer the challenges the lay ahead — together.
Great deeds and acts of kindness are happening across the Heath System by staff working during this outbreak. We want to hear them! Please email your stories and photos to sally.sapega@pennmedicine.upenn.edu.
