Helena Hrapcynski, Bob Katzianer, Marie Bono, Katherine Major and guest Rebecca Martinez connect on a Teams conference call

Penn Medicine at Home has helped thousands of patients stay safe — in the comforts of their own homes — while providing the often life-saving clinical care they needed. One patient recently took the time to write a letter, noting the incredible difference his team made in his life this year.

"It is my opinion that too often the people who are unhappy take time to write about their experiences. Those of us that are happy with the services and care that we receive should, even more so, take the time to provide the positive feedback. While this has been an incredibly difficult year both publicly, and for me personally, as we’ve gone through Thanksgiving and move toward more holidays, I’ve taken inventory of the things that I am grateful for—one of which is the Penn Home Infusion Team.

The thing is, while there are individuals who have stood out to me, it’s not just one person who makes the program what it is; it’s everyone. I’ve had overwhelmingly positive interactions. Marie Bono, who works the phone to set up supplies and delivery is wonderful and so helpful/thorough. Ed White the delivery driver who drops my medicine is very professional and friendly. Bob Katzianer the pharmacist has been an incredibly helpful and courteous individual as well as my former colleague Cassandra Redmond who helped me get set up with everything.

The nurses are a cut above the rest. Rebecca Martinez [case manager] has been invested in my health in a way that very few healthcare providers have been in my life. I deal with several chronic illnesses, and she is uniquely careful and attentive in her approach. She has been an invaluable resource, and she goes out of her way to coordinate my care in a selfless way. She makes herself available, always responds quickly and substantively, and is a true champion of the Home Infusion program at Penn. Helena [Hrapcynski], another nurse that comes here often, is friendly and kind is a way that epitomizes what it is to be an exceptional nurse and a healthcare professional.

It is these people that are the backbone of the infusion team and the face of the program to patients like me."

At Penn Medicine, we all aspire to be Difference Makers who represent the Penn Medicine Experience (PMX) in action. PMX sets a consistent standard across all of our entities and work locations to make every touchpoint an opportunity to build enduring connections with patients, families, visitors and colleagues, which is a foundational part of the UPHS Success Share program.
