Congratulations to Penn Medicine Radnor! The multidisciplinary outpatient and ambulatory surgery center, which opened its new building in the summer of 2020, was recently recognized with Healthcare Gold certification by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. To become LEED certified, a building must earn a threshold of points across multiple measurements for green building excellence, from sustainable site development to energy efficiency and water savings.
With a design that incorporates recycled materials and expansive greenery to use less water and less energy, the Radnor facility is one of the most sustainable in healthcare design. It is the second Penn Medicine building to achieve Gold status; the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania’s new Pavilion building earned the same recognition last year.
