In January, Penn Medicine recognized nine nurses from across the health system for their clinical excellence. Among them was
Nay Saechao, Clinical Nurse IV in the Intensive Care Unit.
The Distinguished Nurse Clinician Academy, now in its second year, is based in part on Penn Medicine’s Academy of Master Clinicians, and is focused on spreading a high level of clinical excellence throughout the organization. Academy members must have exceptional clinical knowledge and interprofessional skills, as well as a passion for their work.
Saechao, who was nominated by fellow nurse Richard Arbour, holds multiple certifications, sits on several nursing committees and has made proactive efforts. She has been a nurse for 13 years.
In his nomination, Arbour said of Saechao, “Nay is compassionate with her words, actions and is well respected, continually seeking to improve care for patients and families while advocating for self-care. Nay has made it her life motto to take the blessings she has been given and ‘pay it forward.’ And her gratitude keeps her passion alive.”
