Eva Lenker, RN, Behavioral
Health Emergency, presented at the American Psychiatric Nurses Association 33rd Annual
Conference in October in New Orleans, Louisiana. After being reviewed by a panel of
psychiatric-mental health nursing experts, Haines’ and Lenker’s abstracts were among 224
others accepted for the national conference. The abstracts were titled “Using De-escalation
Training and Screening Tools as a Method to Reduce Seclusion and Restraint Use in the
Behavioral Health Setting, While Maintaining Safety for Both Patients and Staff ” and
“Improving Outcomes of Behavioral Health Patients with Nurse Driven Guidelines for
Standardization of Care,” respectively.
