In the early hours of the new year, Dede Dovey and her husband, Wilfrid Boko, welcomed the first baby born at Women & Babies Hospital in 2019.
Dovey, due on Dec. 23, was admitted to the hospital to deliver her baby nine days after her original due date. At 8 lbs., David Edem Boko entered the world at 2:04 a.m. Jan. 1.
The first baby born at Women & Babies Hospital and the third baby born in Lancaster County in 2019, David is the couple’s fourth January baby. They also have an 11-year-old boy, a 9-year-old boy and an 11-month-old girl.
Originally from, Togo, in West Africa, Dovey and Boko have been married for 11 years. Boko emigrated from Africa to the United States just three days after the wedding, and the couple were separated for the following eight years until Dovey was able to reunite with her husband here.
Boko now works as a nursing assistant at Moravian Manor in Lititz and says he is most looking forward to spending time with his family in 2019.
