To honor her late mother-in-law, Barbara, Angela Allison (second from right) worked alongside her mother, Annette Berkley to create a colorful quilt that represents the rich fabric of our community and those that come together to offer support in times of need.
The quilt was also showcased at the 2019 Gingham Gala, which raised more than $147,000 for the Cancer Patient Support Fund. These funds provide patients with care packages, therapeutic massages, and assistance with daily living expenses.
Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute patients and visitors then had the opportunity to enter a drawing for the quilt. In July, Leah Fisher, a cancer survivor, was announced as the recipient of the quilt.
In the photo from left to right, Samuel Kerr, MD, medical oncologist, Rosa Fisher, Leah’s daughter and Annie Lattanzio-Hale, nurse navigator, join Angela as she presented Leah with the special quilt.
