May 31, 2020 marked the 10th anniversary of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health opening its first Urgent Care in the community, on Rohrerstown Road in Lancaster.
In those days, Urgent Care was a new concept, and the community’s trust in the LG Health brand helped drive early visits. Over the years, the demand for Urgent Care has grown exponentially. Currently LG Health has seven sites serving patients in Lancaster, Chester and Lebanon counties.
“One of our goals is providing the right care at the right time. Urgent Care is open seven days a week, 364 days a year, and offers access to patients who do not have a primary care physician, or need to be seen that day but do not need emergency room level of care,” said Stacey Harris, director of operations.
As the number of sites expanded, so have the services that make Urgent Care a convenient option of choice.
“Four years ago we added Clockwise, a system that allows patients to view wait times at various locations and reserve a time slot that fits their needs,” added Harris.
Treatment rooms at the two newest locations allow for administration of IV fluids, cardiac monitoring, and testing for concussion and head injuries, which can reduce unnecessary emergency room visits and CT scans.
“As of February, we’ve exceeded 627,000 total visits. We are grateful to our 135 employees who keep our Urgent Cares running and for the community that has received us so well,” said Harris..
