Women & Babies Hospital staff received thank you cards with a free meal voucher in January

Throughout 2020, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s Women & Babies Hospital will honor its employees with small treats, activities and giveaways in celebration of the hospital’s 20th anniversary on June 29.

“Women & Babies Hospital is a really special place. It is rare for a health system to dedicate an entire hospital, not just a floor or a unit, to the care of women and babies,” said Geoffrey Eddowes, senior vice president and senior operating officer, Women & Babies Hospital. “As part of Penn Medicine, we provide women in Lancaster County with access to advanced diagnostics and innovative treatment options. We also empower women to make healthy lifestyle choices by offering educational tools and resources for support.”

LG Health’s 95-bed specialty hospital and adjoining outpatient center focus entirely on the health-care needs of women and newborn babies.

Both inpatient and outpatient care are offered — including screenings, surgical services, and primary and specialty care — for women at every stage of their lives. The hospital’s providers understand the risk factors, symptoms and treatment options for women facing a wide variety of conditions, including heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Comprehensive maternity services include labor and delivery, couplet care, and a Level III neonatal intensive care unit that can care for babies as early as 23 gestational weeks. Nurses on the maternity unit are part of a dedicated team that cares for patients, and one another, like family.

“Parenthood is such a transformational experience, and we are privileged to serve as a trusted partner to so many families in our community. Our staff has the expertise to handle any type of birthing situation, and they go above and beyond to make it special for the families,” said Ashley Lundy, administrative director, Women’s Service Line.

With the hospital entering its 21st year, the first babies born here are now young adults — part of the next generation of parents-to-be that Women & Babies Hospital will welcome.

“We are excited about the future and are eager to continue elevating the patient experience for women in Lancaster County,” added Eddowes.
