According to the American Heart Association, someone dies from heart disease — the number one killer worldwide — stroke, or another cardiovascular condition every 43 seconds in the United States. Millions of people are at risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke nationwide, but the organization is committed to helping everyone lead healthy, active lives. By 2020, the AHA aims to improve the heart and vascular health of all Americans by 20 percent.
Penn Medicine invites you to support the AHA’s 2020 Impact Goal and the health system’s commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovative cardiovascular care by taking part in the 2019 Philadelphia Heart Walk on Saturday, November 2, at Citizens Bank Park.
This annual family-, stroller-, and dog-friendly event features 3-mile and 1-mile walks and a “Healthy for Good” festival. Penn Medicine’s fundraising goal this year is $190,000, and Pennsylvania Hospital aims to raise at least $35,000 of that shared goal, with every department participating. Whether you walk alongside your colleagues, patients, and friends, donate in honor of a loved one, or volunteer during the event, your participation will help the AHA develop lifesaving research and community programming. Plus, Philadelphia Runner is supporting this year’s walk by offering Penn Medicine employees a 10 percent in-store discount through event date. Just present your Penn Medicine ID at checkout!
