Some Penn Medicine practices, including those that are part of Penn Primary Care, have a new telemedicine platform that users can access through myPennMedicine. Over time, all telemedicine visits will use this new platform called Epic Video Client.

Accessing your telemedicine appointment
- Three days and 1 day before your video visit at Penn Medicine, you will receive a link to your appointment by email and by text message.
- When you click the link, you will visit landing page for myPennMedicine. You do not need to have a myPennMedicine account to view the landing page. But, we encourage you to sign up for myPennMedicine for the best possible experience.
- To prepare for your telemedicine visit, select your visit and then “Continue eCheck-in”. This will prompt the Pre Check-in process. This step is required to participate in your telemedicine visit.
Completing Pre Check-In
You must complete Pre Check-in at least 15 minutes before the start of your telemedicine visit.
During Pre Check-in, you will:
- Verify and/or update demographic, insurance and health information.
- Sign consent forms.
- Ensure you do not have an outstanding balance before to your visit.
- Pay copay, if needed, by entering credit card information.
- This pre-authorizes your credit card. Payment is processed when check-in is complete.
Check-in
Once you complete Pre Check-In, you will automatically be checked in for your telemedicine appointment.
Joining the video visit
After you complete Pre Check-in, you can click “Join Video Visit.” The “Join Video Visit” button can be found within your appointment details. The link will become active 15 minutes before your appointment time.
Once you select “Join Video Visit”, you will automatically be launched into your device’s default browser.
You will be prompted to “Allow” camera and microphone. Make sure to click “allow".
Once you allow access to your camera and microphone, you will be able to choose “Join Call.” Before joining, you can also change the display name that appears, blur your background or change your video and microphone settings.
When you are ready, select “Join call” and you will join a virtual waiting room.
Navigating the video visit
- The signal icon will display the strength of your internet connection.
- Click the three dots in the top left of your screen to view more options to change your audio/mic device, blur your background, or switch to full screen or grid view.
- Click the participants icon to view who is in the video call.
- Click the microphone icon to mute or unmute.
- Click the camera icon to turn outgoing video on or off.
- Click leave call to end the video visit.
