Bayhealth is a technologically advanced not-for-profit health care system with more than 3,200 employees and a medical staff of 400 physicians. Bayhealth is an affiliate of Penn Medicine for Heart and Vascular, Cancer and Orthopaedics.

The Bayhealth Medical Center's Cancer Program is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. This accreditation reflects an outstanding level of cancer care provided to the Bayhealth community through comprehensive services for cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and survivorship care. To maintain accreditation facilities must undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance and compliance with quality standards.

The Cancer Center at Milford is an integrated cancer center with chemotherapy and radiation oncology provided in one convenient location on the Milford Memorial Hospital campus. Opened in 2002, the Cancer Center at Milford provides high-quality care to patients in a soothing and comfortable environment with easy access through a separate entrance and parking facilities. The oncology program at Kent General Hospital in Dover also brings radiation and medical oncology together in one convenient location.

The Bayhealth Cancer Program offers care coordination provided by highly-qualified nurse navigators. In addition to assisting patients at the Milford and Kent campuses, the navigators facilitate community outreach to assure access to cancer screening for uninsured and underserved populations. Individuals with abnormal screening exams are assisted to obtain additional care for diagnosis and treatment if needed. Physicians with oncology expertise provide diagnostic imaging and surgical services at both the Milford and Kent campuses. Bayhealth Hematology/Oncology Associates and Delaware Radiation Oncology Associates practice at both locations as well. A clinical trials nurse coordinator screens all new patients for potential participation in clinical trials and then provides the caring link to help them through the process.

As a member of the Penn Cancer Network, Bayhealth is the only cancer program in Delaware affiliated with a National Cancer Institute–designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Patients and the cancer care team have ongoing access to new technologies, innovative treatments and clinical trials, as well as the expert opinions from physicians at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center.
