Judith Long, MD, Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, conduts research focuses on social determinants of health and health care especially as they pertain to socioeconomic and racial disparities. Dr. Long assesses these issues in the context of chronic disease, in particular diabetes. Currently, Dr. Long’s research focuses to greater extent on randomized controlled trails (RCTs) employing peer mentors and community health workers to improve health outcomes in largely low income, minority populations.
