Blueprint for Health Equity and Inclusion
Jaya Aysola, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine, is the Designated Institutional Officer for Penn Medicine and leading the Penn Medicine Health Equity Task force to implement the Penn Medicine Blueprint for Health Equity and Inclusion.
Jaya Aysola, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Medicine, as the inaugural Associate Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) for Health Equity and Inclusion, formed and oversees Penn Medicine’s Health Equity Taskforce which is comprised of key stakeholders and experts dedicated to the mission of ensuring all patients regardless of background or culture receive equitable care in an environment that is diverse and inclusive. Together with this taskforce, Dr. Aysola lead the development of the Blueprint for Health Equity and Inclusion and the signing of the American Hospital Association (AHA) 123 Equity Pledge, affirming Penn Medicine’s commitment to achieving health equity. The Health Equity Taskforce is now working to implement the priority action items outline in Penn Medicine’s Blueprint for Health Equity and Inclusion. In addition to these efforts, we have now established a tradition at Penn to raise awareness about health equity and related topics through an educational symposium held the first week of April, titled "Health Equity Week".
