Types of Pain Treated
At the Penn Pain Medicine Center, we treat many different types of pain, including:
- Arthritis
- Back and neck pain
- Cancer pain
- Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type 1 (CRPS -1), formerly known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD)
- Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Type 2 (CRPS -2), formerly known as Causalgia (pain from major nerve injury, such as amputation)
- Fibromyalgia
- Lower Back Pain
- Pain associated with herniated discs (cervical and lumbar)
- Myofascial pain syndrome
- Headache, including migraine
- Neuropathic pain, including:
- Orthopaedic pain
- Head and neck pain
- Chronic pain following motor vehicle accidents and other injuries
The best chance for treating pain is through the use of several treatment options in a coordinated manner. Treatment often includes the use of medications, interventional techniques (blocks), behavioral medicine techniques, and physical therapy. Each patient's treatment plan is individually selected based on that patient's needs and goals for therapy.
