Health Information Exchanges (HIEs)
Penn Medicine participates in automated information sharing through Health Information Exchanges (HIEs). HIEs securely share parts of your electronic health record with other health care organizations involved in your care. This information is shared to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of your health care.

To request that your health information not be shared through HIEs, please inform your patient service representative.
Research
As an academic medical center, Penn Medicine conducts clinical research.
You may be contacted with an invitation to participate in certain research
activities. However, you have the ability to request to not be contacted for
research initiatives. If you request to not be contacted, we will use
reasonable efforts to prevent this research-related outreach. Please note
that a request to not be contacted for these types of studies will not apply
to the use of your data for research purposes as described in the
Notice of Privacy Practices
and will not prevent your care providers from discussing research with you.
If you do not wish to be contacted for research purposes, please
inform your patient service representative.
