Multiple Children's Hospital of Philadelphia construction and utility projects are affecting roads near our West Philadelphia and University City hospitals and practices. Please expect heavy traffic and delays and allow extra time to travel to your appointments, including at The Hospital of the University of PennsylvaniaPavilion, and Perelman Center for Advanced MedicineLearn more about construction projects at CHOP.

Health Sciences Drive emergency construction

On Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will begin emergency construction on Health Science Drive near the intersection with West Service Drive.

The project will last through the end of the year and affect traffic near Penn Medicine’s 3600 Civic Center Boulevard Parking Garage.

For people traveling to appointments using I-76, we recommend taking the South Street exit (Exit 346) instead of the Grays Ferry Avenue/University Avenue exit.

University Avenue utility work

Northbound traffic on University Avenue is currently reduced to one lane because of ongoing utility work on Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s New Patient Tower.
