If you take any medication, you may have to stop taking it before you go in for your surgery. Some medications need to be stopped as much as 7 days before your scheduled surgery date. Watch this video to see if any of the medication that you take is listed, and please follow the instructions for when to stop taking it.

If you do not follow our guidelines for when to stop taking your medication, for your safety, the surgery will need to be cancelled and rescheduled.

The types of medications listed in the video that need to be paused or adjusted include:

  • Blood Thinning Medications
  • Over the Counter Medications
  • Diabetes SGLT2i - Sodium-Glucose Transport Protein 2 inhibitors
  • Diabetes and Weight Loss GLP-1 – Glucagon-like Peptide-1
  • Diabetes Daily Medications
  • Diabetes Insulin Medications
  • Cardiac - (ACE) Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors
  • Cardiac – (ARBs) Angiotensin receptor blockers
  • Diuretics
  • And other various medications
