If your breasts have sagged or lost their shape due to pregnancy, weight loss or the aging process, a breast lift can help you return to your ideal breast goals. Breast lift surgery—also called a mastopexy—may work best in conjunction with breast implants to increase the overall contour of the breasts, as well as definition and volume.
Our patients who undergo breast lift surgery typically experience:
- Increased lift, position and firmness
- Improved contour and shape
- More youthful appearance for the breasts
The Penn Experience
What to expect before, during and after a breast lift
During your initial consultation, your surgeon will discuss your unique breast transformation goals, as well as the steps of the procedure.
You’ll receive instructions on how to prepare for your surgery, including any foods, drinks and medications to avoid. Your surgeon also may order a mammogram for you, especially if you have a family history of breast cancer.
During this outpatient surgery, your surgeon will remove excess skin and reposition your breast tissue and nipple higher on your chest, creating a more natural and youthful appearance. The incision location depends on each individual. The most common areas are:
- Around the areola
- Around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease
- Around the areola, vertically down to and horizontally across or near the breast crease
Following surgery, you’ll wear bandages or a support bra to minimize swelling and support your breasts through the healing process. The full recovery process will take several weeks, and you’ll be able to return to daily routines based on your surgeon’s guidance.
Breast lift cost
Breast lift cost varies based on your specific treatment goals and other services you may also undergo. Your surgeon will discuss the cost of your breast lift with you during your consultation.
