Aging, genetics and weight gain all play a role in submental fullness, or “double chin,” which affects a broad range of both men and women. Kybella™ is the first and only FDA-approved nonsurgical treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness by destroying fat cells when injected into the fat beneath your chin. The treatment can be customized to meet your individual aesthetic goals.
The Penn Experience
What to expect before, during and after treatment with Kybella™
During your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will decide if you are a candidate for treatment with Kybella™ and how many treatments you'll need to reach your ideal shape.
Kybella™ may be right for you if you're bothered by submental fullness and surgery is not an option. Candidates also include those who eat well and exercise, but can’t reduce or eliminate their double chin.
We give each treatment in our offices, and it takes between 15 and 20 minutes. One of the great features of Kybella™ is that once you achieve your desired appearance, you should not have to undergo the treatment again in the future.
Kybella™ treatment risks
While every type of procedure has risks, you can reduce the chances of complications by carefully following your aesthetician’s instructions.
There are slight side effects associated with Kybella™, the most common of which are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and hardness in the treatment areas. Your care team will check in with you throughout the healing process and is always available to address your concerns.
