Penn’s Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care offers anesthesiology care and related services for inpatient and outpatient procedures.

With historical beginnings under the leadership of Robert Dripps, the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care has a long record of both clinical and academic excellence.

Research

The Penn Center for Anesthesia Research emphasizes translational and interdisciplinary science, both within the department, other departments and institutes in the schools of medicine, nursing, arts and sciences, engineering and veterinary medicine.
