William PepperThis medical student internal medicine interest group is named after William Pepper, Jr., MD who founded our nation’s first teaching hospital, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, in 1874. The society seeks to attract medical students to the exciting field of internal medicine through monthly faculty speaker series, formal mentoring initiatives, and partnership with our regional chapter of the American College of Physicians. Membership in the William Pepper Medical Society is open to all Penn medical students, and all classes have the opportunity to join our email lists at the beginning of the school year during the Student Activities Fair. Sign-up sheets will be available at the Student Activities Fair.

The faculty speaker series highlights the inspiring and dedicated faculty in the Department of Medicine. The series allows for students to learn about various aspects of a career in internal medicine, while meeting leaders in their fields. The academic year begins with our annual kick-off event featuring Department of Medicine leadership. Popular events include the "Interventional Careers Night" at the Simulation Center and sub-specialty speed dating session.

The spring mentoring dinner is co-sponsored by the American College of Physicians (ACP). This event gives students ample opportunity to meet physicians practicing internal medicine in the Philadelphia area.
