Anthony (Tony) Montagnese is an ABR-certified Diagnostic Medical Physicist for Penn Medicine’s Lancaster General Hospital. He also serves that facility as Radiation Safety Officer. Tony is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health and summer internship at the Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory. He began his career as a consulting medical physicist, traveling nationwide to provide physics and radiation safety services to client hospitals and health facilities. This gave him a wide-ranging experience with a variety of diagnostic imaging systems, manufacturers, and regulatory standards. In his 25+ years at Lancaster General Hospital, he has overseen the growth and expansion of the Diagnostic Medical Physics/Radiation Safety Department. Tony serves on the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Radiation Protection Advisory Committee (providing commentary on proposed or existing radiation regulations), as well as the Pennsylvania Radiological Assistance Program (volunteering as a regional first-responder in the case of a radiation emergency). Tony likes to spend his free time playing music, lounging at his lake house, traveling, or playing with his two granddaughters.
