Nyasha G. Maforo, PhD (she/her) joined IPRP as the third resident in July 2022. Nyasha received her PhD in Physics and Biology in Medicine from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her doctoral work focused on identifying and characterizing quantitative cardiac MRI biomarkers for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) disease progression. While in residency, Nyasha has expanded her research interests to evaluate specimen tomography detector systems and to explore determinants of CT dose disparities across Penn Medicine sites. Outside of residency, Nyasha enjoys exploring the Philly food scene, yoga, and the great outdoors.
