Resident research at Penn is headed by Randal Swanson, DO, PhD and includes a formal didactic series on research methodology and techniques. Residents are expected to participate in a longitudinal research project throughout residency and work with faculty mentors to focus research activities.
All residents are expected to present their research as a PGY-4 at the annual Penn PM&R and GSPP Research Day.
A list of past resident research projects can be found here.
Common venues where residents have presented include the Annual Assembly at the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), Annual Meeting of the Association of the Academic Physiatrists (AAP), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Journal, and the American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
