The Mission of Abramson Cancer Center to reduce the burden of Cancer throughout the region, nation and the world, through the development of an integrated program of laboratory, clinical and population based research The Cell Therapy and Transplantation program (CTT) welcomes visiting clinician scientists from around the world to share in the knowledge exchange through the Observership Program. The application process is overseen by Elizabeth Hexner, MD MSTR, Medical Director for the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies and Associate Director for the Master’s in Translational Research program. Applications will be considered International Training and internal committee who embodies the Values of Penn Medicine and the Abramson Cancer Center to be equitable and fair in the selection process. Below are the requirements, application form and additional information necessary for submission.

Application Process

  • Each applicant must be fluent in English and is responsible for ensuring their application is complete.
  • Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all information and supporting documents provided are authentic and accurate.
  • The Committee reserve the right to request additional information or verification of information and documents submitted. If an applicant is unable to do so, we reserve the right to withdraw consideration of the application.
  • Applicants assume all costs associated with authenticating, retrieving and submitting documents and material in support of their application and fulfillment of Observership.
  • The Observership and administration of the application process is resource dependent, and we are unable to provide feedback to candidates who are not accepted into the program.

Eligible participants must:

  • Have completed medical school and be a practicing physician with a hospital affiliation or completed a PhD (or equivalent) with direct experience in cell/gene therapy
  • Have some experience/exposure to hematology, transfusion medicine or cell/gene therapy
  • Be responsible for obtaining their own visa and living accommodations.
