In addition to our clinical work, the Penn Palliative Care Program is also deeply committed to education and training. The program operates a competitive fellowship program and serves as a core teaching site for learners from medicine, nursing, social work, and chaplaincy. In addition, our Serious Illness Communication Program has trained over 700 colleagues from across Penn Medicine – including the entirety of the Oncology Service Line – resulting in thousands of documented conversations to date regarding patients’ goals, values, and priorities.
