Around the City
Residents get either a Septa pass (bus/trolley/subway) or a parking pass — your choice! We are pretty split between who drives and who takes public transport. Many people also walk or ride their bikes to work. From most of the neighborhoods listed, it is easy to take public transportation to and from work. Some residents have a car in the city, but still choose to take pubic transportation to avoid traffic. A car can be convenient to have, but is certainly not necessary to live in Philadelphia. Parking can be tight or expensive in some neighborhoods. There are also services such as Philly Car Share and Zip Car.
Out of Town
Philadelphia sits squarely in the middle of the I-95 NE corridor, so it is easy to travel down to DC and Baltimore, and up to New York and Boston. Travel options include bus, train, air, and of course car. It is easy to get to Philadelphia International Airport on a train that leaves from suburban/30th/University City Stations — you will get there in about 20 minutes!
