Learn about the application process and benefits offered for the Pennsylvania Hospital pharmacy residency program.

Program Qualifications

  1. Graduation from ACPE School of Pharmacy or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the NABP
  2. Pharm.D. degree or equivalent experience
  3. Cumulative GPA ≥ 2.9
    • Candidates from pass/fail institutions will have their GPA score calculated as follows:
      • If class rank is available on transcripts or can be obtained from the school, the class rank will be converted to a percent and award points proportional to that value (e.g. a class rank of 1 would be 100% and award full points, a class rank equivalent to 50% will award half the possible points, etc.)
      • If class rank is not available, then the applicant will receive the average number of points
  4. Board eligible for licensure in the State of Pennsylvania by the start of the residency program
  5. Candidates on a visa must be eligible for an entire year of residency training. A six-month visa sponsorship will not be considered, as it does not meet the needs of the program.

The PGY1 residency program at Pennsylvania Hospital is a 12 consecutive month program. Please note that incoming residents are expected to obtain licensure within 60 days of starting the program.
