Program Qualifications

The PGY1 residency programs at Pennsylvania Hospital are 12 consecutive month programs.

  1. Graduation from ACPE School of Pharmacy or have a Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate from the NABP
  2. Pharm.D. degree or equivalent experience
  3. Cumulative GPA ≥ 2.9
    • For candidates from pass/fail institutions, GPA will be estimated based on class rank.
    • If available, class rank will be converted to a percentage and points awarded proportionally (e.g., rank 1 = full points; rank 50% of class = half points).
    • If class rank is not available, then the applicant will receive the average number of points
  4. Board eligible for licensure in the State of Pennsylvania by the start of the residency program
  5. For the ambulatory care setting program, eligibility of authorization to administer injectable medications, biologicals and immunizations is required
  6. Visa candidates must be eligible for a full year of residency training; six-month visas will not be considered.
  7. Incoming residents must obtain licensure within 90 days of starting the program.

  • College of Pharmacy Transcripts
  • The program listings in PhORCAS and the National Matching Service are:

  • Application deadline: January 2nd

Candidates must submit separate applications for each PGY1 residency program within the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
