The Division of Gynecologic Oncology is an integral part of the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania and serves as a major referral center for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with premalignant or invasive cancers of female genital tract. To provide patients with the best possible outcome, the gynecologic oncologists work closely with radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists.

All of the gynecologic oncologists participating in the Program are board certified or eligible in gynecologic oncology. They perform all aspects of gynecologic cancer surgery and complex benign gynecologic surgery, including radical pelvic and abdominal procedures. There is also a strong emphasis on minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

The Division of Gynecologic Oncology has a national and international reputation for its work in clinical and basic research on gynecologic cancers, particularly ovarian cancer.

The Division of Gynecology Oncology sponsors a gynecologic oncology fellowship. Penn is one of the original training programs established and approved by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) and represents one of only forty such training programs nationwide.

Division of Gynecologic Oncology 2015The Division of Gynecologic Oncology has taken a leadership role in providing cancer information on the internet via OncoLink, the Abramson Cancer Center's online information resource for patients, families of cancer patients and health care professionals.

The participating physicians in the Gynecologic Oncology Program make special effort to maintain regular contact and coordinate care with the patient's referring physician throughout the course of treatment and post-treatment follow-up.
