Mission Statement:

The mission of the Pregnancy and Perinatal Research Center (PPRC) is to promote, manage and conduct high-quality clinical research that involves obstetrical patients in the University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS), including patients that are considering pregnancy, pregnant patients, postpartum patients, and their babies. The PPRC operates in collaboration with the Women's Health Clinical Research Center (WHCRC) and the Center for Research on Reproduction and Women's Health (CRRWH).

Aims:

  • To better understand exposures and complex disease states that adversely affect maternal and child health, including disparities in access to care and perinatal outcomes among our most vulnerable patients
  • To investigate and validate biomarkers of disease states
  • To unravel pathways and pathogenesis that will produce feasible and biological targets for future interventions to reduce maternal-fetal and neonatal morbidity and mortality
  • To test therapies to decrease adverse maternal and child outcomes
