Scott Simpson, DO, MSEd, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology and practices cardiothoracic imaging at Penn Medicine. Dr. Simpson is currently an Associate Program Director for the Radiology Residency, Director of Medical Student Education for the Radiology Department, and co-founder and co-Director of the TEACH track.
His research interests include lung transplant, interstitial lung disease, and education. He is beginning his Masters in Medical Education this fall at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Simpson is passionate about medical student and residency education and clinical research:
- He recently received the Wallace T. Miller Sr. Teaching Award from the radiology residency class of 2020 and was honored as the Teacher of Year at Temple University Hospital in 2015.
- He co-first authored the RSNA official statement paper on reporting of CT findings attributable to COVID-19, which was endorsed by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR).
- He is also part of several national educational and societal committees including the Medical Education Ad Hoc committee for the STR committee and STR COVID-19 task force. For his educational contributions to the STR, he was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation in 2019.
