About Dr. Massenburg

Ben Massenburg earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Harvard College in 2011 and his medical degree with distinction in research from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 2017, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. During medical school, He spent an additional year as a Paul Farmer Global Surgery Research Associate with the Harvard Program in Global Surgery and Social Change. 

He performed his plastic and reconstructive residency at the University of Washington, Harborview Medical Center, and Seattle Children's Hospital from 2017 to 2023. He was awarded the Loren Engrav Research Award in 2021 and 2023 for his research on morphometric outcomes after cleft and cranial vault surgeries as well as his work on the global burden of surgical disease. His career interests include comprehensive cleft care, orthognathic surgery, craniosynostosis, and orbitocranial reconstruction. He is originally from Maui, Hawaii, and when outside of the hospital he enjoys surging, mountain biking, and spending time with his family.
