Scheie Vision Summer 2020

In January 2020, Mina Massaro-Giordano, MD, Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Co-Director of the Penn Dry Eye & Ocular Surface Center, was elected into the Academy of Master Clinicians.

The Academy of Master Clinicians, launched in 2013, celebrates extraordinary Penn Medicine physicians committed to clinical excellence and leadership in patient care. A Master Clinician demonstrates superior communication skills with colleagues and patients and a remarkable depth of knowledge in a specific field of medicine. The Academy is considered the most prestigious honor to be granted to a Penn physician.

Those elected into the Academy serve as ambassadors for Penn, advancing clinical excellence in all areas of the hospital and fostering the highest quality of professionalism and patient care.

“I am honored and humbled to be amongst the ‘Penn Champions.’ As an alumnus, I have been fortunate to witness firsthand this amazing institution and be mentored by exemplary physicians,” said Dr. Massaro. “I look forward to paying it forward in research, teaching, and most importantly, patient care.”

Dr. Massaro is the fourth Scheie physician elected into the Academy, following Prithvi Sankar, MD in 2018, Stephen Orlin, MD in 2015, and Eydie Miller-Ellis, MD in 2014.
