L. Scott Levin, MD, FACS

To My Colleagues,
It is with great pride that I present the latest edition of Excellence in Motion, the newsletter of Penn Orthopaedics.

For this issue, we’ve highlighted some of the most complex care at Penn Orthopaedics. Our Orthoplastic Limb Salvage Program is using sophisticated microvascular surgery to help patients avoid amputations. The Penn Center for the Female Athlete is treating the unique but often overlooked needs of active female patients. The Penn Hip Preservation Center is providing advanced treatments to help patients preserve their natural joint and avoid replacement in later life. These are just a few ways Penn is offering the best treatment options for even the most challenging patients.

It’s through strong leadership that we’re able to accomplish these goals. That’s why we’ve created the Penn Orthopaedics Leadership Forum to impart critical leadership traits to each of our residents – giving them the tools needed to advance the field.

Penn Orthopaedics remains at the vanguard of advanced clinical care – always addressing treatment from a patient perspective in relentless pursuit of exceptional outcomes – and I look forward to sharing more highlights with you in the future.

Regards,
L. Scott Levin, MD, FACS

    Hip Preservation

The focus of the Penn Hip Preservation Center is to identify the underlying cause of hip pain and repair or reconstruct the hip joint. Hip preservation techniques are the preferred option for treating adolescents, young adults, and active adults who are looking for strategies other than traditional hip replacement surgery.
