L. Scott Levin, MD, FACS

Dear Colleagues,

I’m pleased to present to you this year’s Penn Orthopaedics Newsletter.

In 2022, Penn Orthopaedics carried forward a vision that exemplifies its long history as the first academic department of orthopaedic surgery in the country, and its continued commitment to embracing and expanding upon its missions of care, research and education. In February, the Department learned that Penn Orthopaedics is ranked #1 by the National Institutes of Health in terms of orthopaedic surgery research funding in the United States. Moreover, US News & World Report ranked the Perelman School of Medicine’s Surgery Education Program 4th in the nation. We also continued efforts toward a new era of diversity, equity and inclusion at Penn Orthopaedics.

This edition of our newsletter reports upon just some of the Department’s many recent clinical, research, and educational efforts:

I hope you find this issue informative and enlightening, and we look forward to continuing to build lasting relationships with our peers.

Sincerely,
L. Scott Levin, MD, FACS, FAOA
Chair, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
