Mission Statement
The PGY2 Critical Care pharmacy residency program at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in the specialized area of critical care clinical practice. The PGY2 residency at PPMC provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification.
Program Overview
Based on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) standards for PGY-2 training in critical care, our program provides a well-rounded residency experience with an emphasis on clinical excellence and compassionate care through patient care rounds, collaborative research, interdisciplinary education, medication safety, and guideline/policy optimization.
