The Division of Community Radiology was established in 1996 with the primary mission of providing high quality clinical services at multiple suburban hospitals and outpatient imaging centers. The practice offers a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services which support patients and physicians at convenient locations. Staffing and practice standards in the Division of Community Radiology are highly integrated with the other divisions of the Penn Radiology Department.
Clinical
Penn Radiology clinical capacities extend to affiliations with multiple institutions in the Philadelphia region. Collectively, these outstanding hospitals, along with numerous free-standing suburban imaging sites, form the Division of Community Radiology.
The division performs over 450,000 radiologic exams annually at its sites, which include multiple imaging centers and three hospitals (Pennsylvania Hospital, Phoenixville Hospital and The Chester County Hospital). All of the suburban-based radiologists are board-certified and have subspecialty areas of training and interest. Many of them practice across multiple areas in addition to their subspecialty expertise.
Education
Radiologists in the division focus primarily on providing clinical services with some resident/fellow teaching in the outpatient offices.
Research
Although almost all have sub-specialized expertise, division members must be facile with additional core elements of general diagnostic practice. Radiologists participate in research activities as they choose.
