Every year a large cohort of Penn Radiology residents attend national radiology meetings including the RSNA and SIR Annual meetings, as well as numerous subspecialty annual meetings, such as ASNR, AUR, CIO, SAR, SIO, and SIIM. The program fully supports residents to attend essentially an unlimited number of conferences at which they present abstracts and/or posters. In 2023-2024, 35 residents presented abstracts or posters at 43 different meetings!
Penn Radiology at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting 2024
The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) hosts an annual convention during the early winter months. This year RSNA was held from December 1 – December 5th, 2024. Penn Radiology continues to demonstrate a strong presence with more than ten residents presenting at the 2024 convention. Of course, our residents displayed an impressive array of interests. Exhibiting presentations from all residency cohorts, Penn radiology could not be prouder to facilitate their journeys to becoming lifelong learners, educators, and experts.

Charge Consortium 2024
The Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research in Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE) Consortium was formed to facilitate genome-wide association study meta-analyses and replication opportunities among multiple large and well-phenotyped longitudinal cohort studies. These cohorts have an extensive collection of genomic data as well as repeated measures of risk factors, subclinical disease indicators, and cardiovascular events. Consortium members and others meet regularly to discuss ongoing projects and present results. This meeting was held in Rotterdam, Netherlands and R4 Resident Kate Hartmann presented a poster on AI Based Imaging Genomics to Identify Genetic and Phenotypic Associations with Portal Vein Diameter.
WFITN 2024
Penn resident Bobby Romano(R2) and his Penn mentor, Dr. Choudhri, visited New York City this October to present their clinical research on endovascular navigational techniques during treatment of venous disorders such as pulsatile tinnitus.

The conference was hosted by the World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology (WFITN), which is an international scientific group dedicated to the discipline of interventional neuroradiology. As a Penn Radiology resident, Bobby has helped manage Dr. Choudhri's clinical laboratory and mentor its medical and undergraduate student members. The WFITN marks his second conference since joining the neuroIR-focused lab. At the WFITN, Bobby especially enjoyed speaking with Dr. Maksim Shapiro, an interventional neuroradiologist at New York University, who created a free educational website for learning neuroangiography called neuroangio.org.

Bobby also was privileged to meet Dr. Berenstein who developed the famous Berenstein catheter and pioneered interventional radiology - in fact, he performed the first catheter-based therapeutic embolization for a GI bleeder.
ACR 2024
The ACR annual meeting was held April 13-16, 2024, in Washington, D.C. and several Penn residents were in attendance. RFS programming included lectures on time management, as well as Jeopardy style lecture on Non-Interpretive Skills for R3s preparing for boards.
The theme of last year's conference was Workforce, and issues covering workload demands on radiologists as well as overall supply of radiologists entering the workforce were raised on Capitol Hill. These included amending the appropriate use criteria section of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act, co-sponsoring several acts pertaining to mitigating the physician shortage, and discussing the perennial issue of Medicare Repayment Reform.
