To apply for a fellowship position, please complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the centralized application on-line SF Match website. (Includes, personal statement, your curriculum vitae, 3 letters of recommendation, one of which should be a chairman’s letter from your residency program, ABSITE scores and USMLE scores).
  2. Applications should be submitted by March 4, 2024.
  3. Selected individuals will be contacted for interviews.

Qualifications

The transplant fellowship at Penn is looking for talented, dedicated young surgeons aspiring to become academic transplant surgeons and future leaders in the field. The program is open to surgeons who hold the MD degree or equivalent and who are either certified or eligible to take the examination for certification by the American Board of Surgery or foreign equivalent. Applicants must be eligible for a medical license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and either be a U.S. citizen or have appropriate visa status for an additional two years of residency training. Background and experience in basic science or clinical research is viewed as highly beneficial.

For the 2025 fellowship we will be interviewing on Wednesday, April 17 and Wednesday, May 22, 2024. This will include a full day of interviews with individuals involved in the Transplant Program, including transplant faculty, research staff, current fellows, residents, and nurses).

We participate in the SF Match for which the 2024 schedule is:

  • January 10, 2024 – Application Registration Begins
  • March 4, 2024 – Penn Application Deadline
  • June 5, 2024 – Match Deadline: Rank Lists must be submitted by 12 (noon) PST
  • June 12, 2024 – Match Day
  • August 2025 – Transplant Surgery Fellowship begins
