About Dr. Ricciardi

Adele Ricciardi is a categorical resident in general surgery. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and biology with highest honors. She received her MD cum laude and her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Yale University. Her graduate school research established the feasibility of using fetal gene editing as a method to treat genetic diseases before birth. Her work demonstrated therapeutic efficacy of in utero gene editing in pre-clinical models of beta-thalassemia and cystic fibrosis. She plans to continue to pursue a career in academic surgery and is interested in pediatric and fetal surgery.
