About Dr. Lluis

Dr. Lluís spent her childhood in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, where she attended the American School of Barcelona. In 2001, she moved to Alicante, Spain, and graduated from Medical School in 2013. Back in Barcelona, she completed her residency in General Surgery in 2019, and entered a PhD program in Medicine and Translational Research. To further her surgical training, from 2021 to 2023, she did a research fellowship at the Miami Cancer Institute, Miami, Florida, studying surgical and oncologic outcomes in hepato-pancreatic-biliary (HPB) diseases. Dr. Lluís is now a CY1 preliminary resident in General Surgery. In addition to patient care, her main interest is clinical and translational research in HPB diseases.

Research

During her PhD, Dr. Lluís acquired proficiency in statistical tools, such as the R software, to perform descriptive, comparative and survival analyses, as well as logistic regression models using training and validation cohorts, static and dynamic nomograms, ROC curves, and propensity score matching analysis. She also acquired proficiency in the use of the Covidence platform for the management of systematic reviews, as well as REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) for the development of surveys and observational study databases. Her main interest is clinical and translational research in hepato-bilio-pancreatic diseases. After completing residency, she plans to apply for a fellowship in HPB surgery and pursue an academic career.
